The historic Ratchadamri district is one of Bangkok’s most charming and historically significant neighborhoods. Studded with cultural landmarks, temples, meeting places for trading, and Thai traditional housing, this vital community is truly Bangkok’s heart.
It began with the wise vision of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V) about 100 years ago to build a wider boulevard, linking Silom and Ratchaprasong area, for growing future development in Bangkok. ‘Ratchadamri’ was the name given from His Majesty the King specifically for this boulevard, meaning ‘Royal Deliberation’.
Over time the neighborhood began to change, yet it remains the original elite neighborhood of Bangkok. New shopping centers, theaters, restaurants, hotels, offices, and luxury residences were erected alongside the Ratchadamri Boulevard.
With its prestige and long history, Ratchadamri is not just a boulevard; it is the legacy of Royal lineage.
